AVProConnect Achieves Full 18Gbps 4K60 (4:4:4) Video Signal Over Category Cable

Passing 18Gbps, 4K60 (4:4:4) signals over category cable via HDBaseT is now a reality with AVProConnect’s new line of extenders and matrix switchers shipping now.

AVProConnect, an AVPro Global Holdings Company, is proud to present their latest line of extenders and matrix switchers capable of passing full 18Gbps 4K60 (4:4:4) signals over single CAT-5e/6a/7 UTP/STP using Invisible Compression Technology (ICT) featuring HDBaseT. This proprietary technology (ICT) allows the delivery of a visually lossless, high bandwidth, 4K HDR format with full support for all signals up to 18Gbps.

ICT itself is a revolution in HDMI extension. This proprietary technology can compress high bandwidth HDMI signals into a more manageable size to fit through a CAT-5e/6a/7 cable ‘pipe’. The ICT algorithm can handle all formats of HDR including those with chroma subsampling of 4:4:4, 4:2:2, and 4:2:0 and bit depths of 8, 10 and 12 bits per pixel. This means ICT supports all known HDMI 2.0b formats up to 18Gbps. This allows integrators to provide customers with an immersive HDR experience by installing the latest sources including the all new Apple TV 4K, Roku Premier+, and more over existing or new UTP/STP infrastructure.

Matt Murray of the AVPro Global Holdings Development Team stated, “ICT means Invisible Compression Technology. We designed our own algorithm to work with HDBaseT technology for transport to extend the HDMI signal over Category cable because the available off-the-shelf chipsets on the market were not reliable enough. It is a testament to our engineering team and what AVPro Global is capable of. What makes this technology so special is that we don’t decimate or compress a signal without recovering the original signal. Years of collaboration with the ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) has kept our focus on total video image quality. We want to give end users more than just a picture, we want to give them the correct, full and original image – in its original format with HDR and WCG. If you connect an analyzer to this signal there are absolutely no changes in bit depth, resolution, HDR metadata, color space or anything else. Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, HDR10+, NHK, and BBC HDR formats are all supported. AVProConnect is offering this technology in multiple extension solutions including a 40, 70 and 100-meter options (those are the true 4K60 (4:4:4) distances).  In addition to the extension solutions, we have two matrix switchers (4×4 and 8×8, both 70 Meters) with this special HDBaseT technology built-in. There is also an ICT retrofit solution for older HDMI cables and extenders. We just want to give installers multiple tools and solutions to get the job done.”

The all new ICT Extender Family, featuring 40, 70 and 100 Meter lengths, support up to 4K60 (4:4:4) with HDR and WCG. These HDBaseT extenders support bi-directional power, stereo audio breakouts (on Tx and Rx), EDID management, scaling, built-in 4K/2K test patterns for setup, Ethernet (70/100M only), bi-directional IR, and RS-232. ARC is also supported in the 100 meter version.

In addition to the ICT Extender Family, AVProConnect is also debuting 4×4 and 8×8 matrix switchers that include mirrored HDBaseT and HDMI outputs. Just like the extenders, these switchers were built for the highest bandwidth signals up to 18Gbps including Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG support. With built-in scalers on each HDBaseT output and advanced EDID management you have an ideal solution for a mixed 4K HDR and HD system.
