Event Engineering Solutions LLC Acquires HRS Event Control Station and Takes It for a Spin at LA Auto Show

Phoenix-based Event Engineering Solutions LLC, which provides live staging engineering for corporate events and trade shows, has become one of the first companies to acquire the HRS Event Control Station. An all-in-one control system with built-in Linux computer and browser-based programming environment, the Event Control Station from High Resolution Systems made its debut at the recent LDI 2015.

The HRS Event Control Station measures just 14 x 6 x 5 inches for a compact footprint and features 88 physical buttons with functionality for 64 presets and 22 user keys with large CUT and TAKE buttons.  All buttons are fully customizable and can be configured to control one or multiple devices.

“I’m an old-school guy who prefers push buttons to GUI-based interfaces, which I find open up the possibility of errors,” says Bryan Henry, owner and chief engineer at Event Engineering Solutions.  “For me, a hard-surface controller makes it easier to insure the right cues happen at the right time.”

Henry also likes the universal nature of the Event Control Station, which is compatible with a full range of equipment, including Barco’s Encore switcher, the Christie Spyder X20 image processor and Analog Way Ascender switchers.  “I work with them all,” he points out.

“The embedded Linux computer is another key feature for me,” Henry says.  “It’s a big benefit that I don’t have to add another computer to program and run the system.”

Three days after Henry received the Event Control Station he was setting it up for an automaker’s press conference at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2015.  “Encore was handling the image processing for an LED wall and monitors at the press conference, where the car maker unveiled a new vehicle and updated the press on its business status,” he says.  “The Event Contol Station extended the functionality of Encore by allowing me to access more presets.  I had access to all 64 presets without having to page ahead until I found the right one.  With just Encore I would have had access to only 8 presets at a time, so that meant a lot more button pushes.”

For its first usage right out of the box the Event Control Station proved “quick to set up and run with the help of High Resolution Systems,” Henry reports.  “They have really great customer service.

“I’m looking forward to using the Event Control Station on several upcoming shows,” he says.  “I expect to use it on pretty much every show now.  I see it being an instrumental part of what I do.”
