Lightware Visual Engineering has introduced Event Manager, a completely new feature of Lightware’s UMX-TPS transmitter family, which helps integrate lighting, audio and other systems without an additional control system.  Event Manager was recently unveiled at ISE (Integrated Systems Europe) 2015.  Lightware USA is the US distributor for Lightware products.

Event Manager has powerful buillt in control funtionality for small room applications and for simple systems, no external control system is needed. When an external control system is present, the IO control ports can be used on Lightware transmitters and recivers, such asGPIO and RS232 over IP command injection.  The UMX series transmitters, which feature mutliple inputs and built in switcher,  can even notify over IP, RS232 or GPO when input signals are present or signal status changes.

“The new Event Manager from Lightware is just another step in the direction of our deep understanding and support for commercial integration applications,” says Drew Taylor, Lightware USA’s Director of Sales and Applications. “Lightware continues to improve on its diverse and powerful product line, which provides tremendous value to integrators and system designers. At Lightware USA we are excited to support the new Event Manager, and we look forward to seeing it used it a variety of applications.”

A basic application might include Lightware’s UMX-TPS-TX140 transmitter with DVI, HDMI and Display Port inputs connected to an HDMI-TPS-RX95 receiver over a single twisted pair cable.  When a signal is detected on the transmitter on any of the three input ports, a custom RS232 message can automatically be sent out of the local RS232 port or through the RS232 port on the receiver. The custom RS232 messages can be used to turn a display on or off, for example.

Event Manager also allows for the use of general purpose (GP) inputs and outputs: The GP outputs can be used to raise and lower a screen while the GP inputs allow user-defined triggers from a cost-effective, simple button panel.
