HARMAN’s JBL Professional Offers High Output and Precise Directivity Control with new Intellivox HP-DS130 Active Beam Shaping Loudspeaker Array

FRANKFURT, Germany – HARMAN’s JBL Professional is introducing the new Intellivox HP-DS130 active beam shaping loudspeaker array, offering high output and unmatched directivity control for a loudspeaker in its category. The HP-DS130 is a very compact 1.3 meters (4.3 feet) in height and has an output capability of 105 dB at 30 meters (100 feet), along with a frequency response that extends to 18 kHz. The horizontal dispersion is 100 degrees and the typical throw is around 25 meters (80 feet), enabling an area of approximately 775 square meters (8300 square feet) to be covered by a single device.

The HP-DS130 is a modern update to the classic Intellivox DS808, which along with its big brother the DS1608 were the world’s first commercially available beam-shaping high-power loudspeaker arrays. The HP-DS130 looks similar to the 808 but that’s where the similarity ends. The unit now has all the electronics built into the loudspeaker enclosure, including a highly efficient power supply and class D amplification. Combining this with the fact that the unit is also IP 55 rated, it’s no wonder that it’s already garnering great interest from systems integrators and clients. The new electronics exhibit very low power consumption and therefore the lifetime costs are dramatically reduced.

The HP-DS130 features six individual, high-efficiency, 6.5” loudspeakers arranged in accordance with JBL Intellivox’s patented algorithm, plus two coaxially mounted compression drivers for extended frequency response. It also utilizes Intellivox’s exclusive DDS beam-shaping capability, which uses complex room mapping to provide complex directivity patterns. This not only results in even SPL coverage but DDS also ensures that the frequency response is consistent throughout the space.

“Our Intellivox loudspeakers have been very successful in installed applications of all kinds, ranging from houses of worship to transportation hubs to government facilities and beyond,” said Nick Screen, Intellivox Sales Director, JBL Professional. “The new Intellivox HP-DS130 provides high-quality performance and ease of installation, making it an ideal choice for any fixed installation environment.”

The HP-DS130 is scheduled to start shipping in June 2015.
