Mosaic LA Purchases FUJINON Lenses for 4K Live Streaming Worship Services & Events

Mosaic recently purchased four lenses from the Optical Devices Division of FUJIFILM: two UA22x8 4K, 2/3-inch portable zooms; a Cabrio 19-90mm lens (ZK4.7×19); and a Cabrio 25-300mm lens (ZK12x25)

Wayne, N.J. – Los Angeles-based church Mosaic relies heavily on video production to reach its community worldwide. For the past four years, the church has live-streamed sermons to thousands of people. Mosaic also has built a large podcast following in recent years. Looking to transition into a fully 4K video production environment, Mosaic recently purchased four lenses from the Optical Devices Division of FUJIFILM: two UA22x8 4K, 2/3-inch portable zooms; a Cabrio 19-90mm lens (ZK4.7×19); and a Cabrio 25-300mm lens (ZK12x25).

The FUJINON lenses were purchased as part of Mosaic’s 4K video streaming plan. The church routinely live streams sermons on their website four times a week. The house of worship’s podcast of archived sermons and events can also be accessed here.

Future-proofing their video equipment so that content can be used now and well into the future was top of mind for the progressive house of worship, founded by Lead Pastor and author Erwin Raphael MacManus (“The Artisan Soul” and “The Barbarian Way”). Mosaic’s sanctuary is set in a low lumen, theatrical type of lighting environment that makes for a challenging video production setting, so the worship center and its systems integrator, VMI, Inc., performed significant evaluations of cameras and lenses to find the best fits available on the market.

“We found that Sony cameras’ equipped with FUJINON lenses produced the sharpest quality images in the church’s low lighting environment, making them an ideal fit for Mosaic,” said John Delmont, Systems Sales and Integration, VMI, Inc. “Our company has forged a strong long-term relationship with FUJIFILM Optical Devices, and we find their lenses to be consistently top-of-the-line.”

FUJINON’s UA22x8 portable UHD zoom is being used on a Sony HDC-4300L camera, and FUJINON’s Cabrio lenses are paired with Sony PMW-F55 CineAlta camcorders. First used for a music concert on May 20th, the lenses are now routinely on call for live production of Mosaic’s Sunday services, along with a Wednesday night service. The lenses are also used for special events and concerts at Mosaic.

“We strive to be innovative in the ways that we use technology to convey our message and connect with our community,” said Lawrence Fudge, Executive Pastor, Mosaic. “Our goal in this project was to create 4K productions from start to finish, and our FUJINON lenses have helped us to be one of the first worship centers to achieve that.”

Designed for broadcast applications and compatible with 4K 2/3-inch broadcast cameras, the UA22x8 lens features a lightweight and compact design. Delivering true 4K optical quality, the lens has a 22× zoom ratio and a focal length from 8mm in wide angle to 176mm in telephoto.

FUJINON’s PL 25-300mm and 19-90mm Cabrio lenses feature exclusive detachable servo drive units (optional on the PL 25-300) for electric zooming, focusing and iris. The lenses feature a nine-blade iris to create natural-looking imagery, flange focal distance adjustment, macro function, and are LDS (Lens Data System) and /i metadata compatible.
