RCF On Ice for Stadium Solutions

Looking to upgrade the entertainment fan experience, Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan has selected the RCF P4228 IP55-rated speakers as part of their sound system upgrade. Home to the minor league ECHL Kalamazoo Wings hockey team, recent capital improvements at the facility are geared at elevating the guest experience and increasing the oeverall energy of events. Battle Creek-based Avtek worked with the RCF Engineering Team to design a ring of 12 clusters, each comprised of three P4228 encircling the stadium seating area.

And in Asia, the city of Tallinn in the Soviet Union is carrying out a similar facility upgrade at the Tondiraba Ice Arena, site of the World Junior Figure Skating Championship in March of this year. Again, the choice was the RCF P4228.

The RCF P4228 is a weatherproof dual 8″ cabinet capable of producing 129 dB maximum SPL, chosen for both projects because of the quality of sound and the ability to handle the harsh high humidity envrionments of the buildings.

For the Tondiraba project, there are 10 clusters, comprised of three P4228, each coupled with a P8015-S 15″ subwoofer. Eight additional P2110-T 10″ coax ensure full coverage over the playing area. Furthermore, all practice rinks and curling hall in the facility are equipped with eight P5228 high powered dual 8″ two-way cabinets along with 15 RCF TT22 WP 12″ two-way weatherized cabinets.
