RTI Announces KNX Association Membership

SHAKOPEE, Minn. — Feb. 14, 2013 — Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI) today announced that the company has become a member of the KNX Association, the creator and owner of KNX Technology. As a KNX Association member, RTI is displaying its continued commitment to ensure dealers have tight integration between the company’s award-winning line of control solutions and KNX-compatible devices.

Based upon more than 22 years of experience in the market, KNX is approved as the worldwide standard for home and building control (ISO/IEC 14543-3). It is widely used in many sectors, including lighting and shading control, security and HVAC systems, audio and video, energy management, and more. The KNX protocol can be found in more than 7,000 devices and systems in 120 countries worldwide.

Currently, RTI control systems integrate with KNX-compatible devices via a two-way driver developed by RTI’s European distribution partner VIVATEQ, a member of the COMM-TEC group. Working together with VIVATEQ’s CTG-KNX/IP Gateway, the software driver utilizes the Ethernet network as a communication link between KNX-compatible devices and any RTI XP series processor.

“The demand for KNX compatibility is very high, especially in Europe, where it is the dominant control protocol. We understand the important role that KNX technology plays in integration projects worldwide. Dealers are very pleased with the two-way driver for VIVATEQ’s CTG-KNX/IP Gateway, and we are excited to say we’ve taken the next step by becoming a KNX member,” said Pete Baker, vice president of sales and marketing for RTI. “By becoming a member of the KNX Association, we’re demonstrating the importance of having full control and two-way communication with KNX-compatible devices, ensuring that RTI can provide dealers with effective control solutions in any residential or commercial project.”
