Samsung introduces new flagship 98″ 8K Neo QLED LCD TV

A North American and European release is speculated to be announced soon

Samsung has announced an addition to their 2023 Neo QLED line with the new flagship 98″ 8K ‘Neo QLED’ LCD TV (QN990C). Unlike the other Neo QLED offerings from Samsung this year, the QN990C comes with a TCL-manufactured panel. Features include an 8K LCD panel, miniLED zone dimming, and a 120W Dolby Atmos audio system. While the QN990C is currently only offered in South Korea, experts speculate that, much like the rest of the 2023 Neo QLED line, North American and European releases will be announced later this year. In South Korea, the QN990C retails for a price of about $38,500 USD.

“TCL CSOT’s production lines enable efficient production of 98-inch LCD panels, giving them an advantage over 100-inch panels, which can only be produced by the G8.6 generation line,” said CEO of TCL CSOT Jun Zhao. “We at TCL CSOT have achieved remarkable success and reputation in this field, with our self-produced 98-inch 4K panel products being widely adopted by renowned brands such as Samsung, Sony, TCL, Xiaomi, Changhong, and Haier.”

The following was originally published May 11, 2023:

Samsung has made their full range of 2023 Neo QLED TVs available in the US, as well as the UK and select other regions. These quantum dot leveraging displays come in a wide variety, both 4K and 8K, from 43″ all the way up to 85″, with a 98″ model launching later this year.

Samsung’s 2023 Neo QLED range supports Dolby Atmos, and are the first models to be validated by Pantone for color accuracy.

The 8K models are the QN900C, QN800C and QN700C, while the 4K models featuring miniLED dimming are QN95C and QN90C.

Samsung says that their 2023 Neo QLED line will be releasing in additional regions in the upcoming weeks.
