ADI to Distribute Antex’s Residential and Commercial Satellite Radio Receivers

Providing systems contractors and integrators with an important new tool for servicing the commercial market, ADI, a leading distributor of low-voltage products with more than 100 locations in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, has added the Antex Electronics XM-100 XM Satellite Radio receiver to its arsenal.

Highlighted by a unique automatic preset channel switching feature, the XM-100 allows storeowners and managers to preset up to 100 channel and volume changes at specific times and intervals throughout the day, making it the perfect solution for salons, banks, retail outlets, and restaurants looking for a cost-effective, turnkey alternative to other in-store entertainment sources.

“The XM-100 gives commercial contractors a product that’s uniquely designed to let them take advantage of satellite radio, which is one of the hottest categories in the consumer electronics industry,” said Dave Antrim, president of Antex. “And it provides the end users with a multitude of features to maximize programming flexibility and security.”

The XM-100’s security features include user-programmable “channel blocking” and a front-panel lockout function to prevent employee tampering. Simple to install, the XM-100’s backlit LCD—aside from displaying channel and music information—acts as a visual aid during installation and troubleshooting. Other features include 24-bit D/A converters, IR remote control input, and a RS-232 data port.

ADI customers also have access to Antex’s SRX-3 (Sirius) and XM-3000 (XM) TriplePlay home receivers. Both receivers come equipped with three built-in satellite radio receivers, and use a single control scheme and antenna to achieve three-zone operation. Aside from IR control, both units also offer RS-232 control—making them compatible with today’s leading distributed audio systems. Other features include 30 presets (10 per zone), backlit LCD screen, 24-bit D/A converters, and a parental lock control. For added security, both units can also be preprogrammed to skip specific channels.

“Antex’s product line really provides our business with three unique solutions for accessing satellite radio, one of the hottest consumer electronics categories in the audio industry,” says R.J. Hirshkind, product manager, residential and commercial AV, ADI. “Antex is a proven leader in the satellite radio receiver market, and its product line further enhances our product offerings as we continue to augment our existing product lines and show our customers we are a complete one-stop shop.”
