Audio-Technica announces major advancements to its Engineered Sound wired microphone line at this year’s NSCA Expo. Designed to deliver absolute quality, system flexibility, and convenient operation, the entire Engineered Sound line has been revamped to offer complete immunity to RFI, thanks to UniGuard protection in every model. The new ES microphones are also fully RoHS-compliant—free from all substances specified in the EU directive on the reduction of hazardous substances (RoHS). The line offers more than 50 new models for a truly comprehensive assortment of gooseneck, hanging, boundary, lavalier, and handheld microphones.

In addition to RFI-immunity and RoHS compliance, new features include the innovative PivotPoint rotating connector on ES961 and ES961RC boundary microphones, superior off-axis rejection for improved gain before feedback, and an 80Hz UniSteep filter for removal of unwanted low frequencies without affecting vocal quality. Four new interchangeable elements lend additional flexibility, with cardioid, hypercardioid, and omnidirectional elements offered, as well as the MicroLine (90-degree pickup pattern).

In a direct response to customer requests, Audio-Technica is now offering ES switched and unswitched goosenecks in six length options: 6in., 12in., 15in., 18in., 21in., and 24in. All of these new podium microphones offer UniGuard RFI-shielding technology. They feature easy-to-adjust, robust gooseneck designs (single for the 6in., double for the other lengths) that resist inadvertent repositioning. The microphones come equipped with a new low-profile isolation mount that firmly secures the microphone while providing maximum attenuation of noise, shock, and vibration. Clear, high-output performance is assured by new interchangeable condenser elements available in four pickup patterns: cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional, and MicroLine.

The latest Engineered Sound hanging microphones, designed for suspension over choirs, instrumental groups and theater stages, feature UniGuard RFI-shielding innovations and a low-profile design, available in black or white. Interchangeable capsules offer improved on-axis pickup. With robust construction and unobtrusive appearance, these hanging mics offer sophisticated and versatile sound reinforcement solutions. Models with plate-mount power modules are available for permanent installation.

Engineered Sound boundary microphones offer outstanding speech intelligibility and transparent sound quality on conference tables, in houses of worship, in theater applications, and beyond. With superior off-axis rejection and maximum gain-before-feedback, these professional microphones set audio-quality standards in the most challenging acoustic environments. The housing of the ES961, ES961W, and ES961RC microphones incorporates PivotPoint, Audio-Technica’s innovative rotating output connector that allows the cable to exit from either the back or the bottom of the microphone. The ES961RC is equipped with programmable switches and LED status indicators for easy, flexible control in conference- and boardroom installations. The ES945 and ES947 button boundary mics have been updated and are available in both black and white. All models are RoHS-complaint and equipped with Audio-Technica’s UniGuard RFI protection.

The line also includes handheld and lavalier models. The ES973 hypercardioid condenser microphone offers smooth, accurate audio reproduction for handheld and fixed-mount applications. The microphone’s special internal shock mounting eliminates virtually all handling and cable noise. The discreet-design ES943 cardioid condenser lavalier microphone offers maximum intelligibility and minimum visibility for quality sound reinforcement, professional recording, television, and other demanding sound-pickup applications.

The Audio-Technica Engineered Sound line is available only to the professional installed sound market via a network of specialized sound contractors and system integrators as opposed to retail outlets. The microphones are ideal for installation in churches, boardrooms and government meeting rooms, courtrooms, distance-learning facilities, and other corporate installations. The Engineered Sound line builds on A-T’s commitment to offering the fixed installation/sound contracting market the highest performance products, offering RoHS compliance, full UniGuard RFI immunity, and the ability to meet international specifications.

These new Engineered Sound microphones will be available in Spring 2007.
