The Gefen extender set was the most expensive unit tested. It used the HDBaseT chipset and exceeded the HDBaseT specification when using Cat-6 cable. It was neatly packaged, with easy-to-put-together with clear labels on the cases. It also had some advanced features that would be expected from a unit in this price range. It has Ethernet passthrough as well as bi-directional IR. This set features PoL (Power Over Line), which is a Gefen proprietary technology that provides 10W of 5V DC power to the receiver unit over the single Cat-5 signal cable, and allows the receiver unit to power additional Gefen devices. The transmitter unit uses a standard IEC C14 connector that accepts a typical power cord and does not need a proprietary power supply.
