Haivision Network Video announced that its VF iControl iPhone/iPad application is the recipient of the 2010 STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) Award, presented by the editorial staff of TV Technology magazine at the 2010 NAB Show. The VF iControl app allows mobile device users to control recordings and apply metadata in realtime as it is being recorded by Haivision’s Furnace IP video delivery system. In addition, with VF iControl, users can immediately review recording on their mobile device and publish them to the Furnace Media Server video on demand (VOD) system for further secure review or playback anywhere.

Haivision’s Furnace IP video system provides a secure and performance-oriented end-to-end media delivery environment for live video distribution, video recording, and VOD. VF iControl allows users to control the Furnace system’s recording process, apply realtime metadata (HotMarks) on the fly, review the resulting video recording on the mobile device, and publish the recording directly to the Furnace IP video system.

The Furnace InStream video player lets authorized users on any computer, anywhere, review the video immediately, along with associated HotMarks. HotMarks also are displayed on the Furnace VOD scrub bar to provide fast access to specific content. This convenience and ease of use make VF iControl ideal for capturing, marking, and publishing video from medical procedures, medical skills, and other training simulations; lectures; military exercises; and sporting events.
