Ceiling Box

Legrand’s latest in its line of high-performance wire and cable management devices, the Evolution series ceiling box, is offered in six variations. These 2’x2’x6”-deep boxes fit above a false or permanent ceiling to provide storage for electronic audio/video and IT equipment, and to support a projector, if required. These boxes are designed for conference rooms, classrooms, training facilities, or anywhere a projector and/or AV equipment is needed and where large racks or furniture storage are not practical. The six versions of the Evolution series include three units with a projector mount and several options for electrical circuitry. Receptacles within each box are uncontrolled, controlled by dry contact, or feature network (IP) or RS-232-series-port-enabled RackLink technology from Middle Atlantic Products, which monitors and controls the power to AV and IT equipment. Receptacles are rotated to accommodate large plugs. The shelves inside the ceiling box are designed to easily pivot forward and backward, providing access to both the front and back of installed devices. The shelves can even be removed (without tools) to allow for devices to load outside the box and then be reinstalled. A unique pattern of slots and holes enables installers to use a variety of techniques for securing equipment in place.

Console Software Update

Studer has released the version 5.1 upgrade to its Vista 1 console, adding sister company Lexicon effects processing to the Vista 1 digital broadcast console. “The new software enables the built-in Lexicon FX surround processors [two engines with up to eight mono effects processors] for the Vista 1, controlled directly from the Vistonics U/I, all in one very compact footprint,” says Product Manager Roger Heiniger. Primary applications for the Vista 1 include broadcast production, OB trucks and vans, theater, houses of worship, live, and music production. The Vista 1 is available in 32 or 22 motorized fader options, featuring the patented Vistonics and FaderGlow user interfaces and is capable of 96 DSP channels including 5.1 surround, true broadcast monitoring, talkback, red light control, and GPIO.

Wall Plate Transmitter

The FSRDV-WPHXT-1Tx-WHT wall plate transmitter allows one VGA and one HDMI/DVI-D high-quality digital media input to be connected at a distance of up to 150ft. from a receiver using a single unshielded Cat-6 network cable. The unit switches automatically to a live video source, operates manually via a pushbutton on the wall plate face, or via RS-232 control. The white wall-plate front-panel connections include an HD-15 connector, a HDMI connector, and a 3.5mm stereo mini plug. The rear surface hosts an RJ-45 output connector and a captive-screw connector for power and RS-232 communication. It’s ideal for worship applications because it features a VGA input and a digital input connection plate that automatically switches to a receiver via Cat-X cable and outputs HDMI audio and video. The DV-WPHXT-1CTx-WHT is compatible with FSR’s DV-HXT-1Rx CAT-x receiver and is available as a kit. The transmitter units can be ordered separately when using them in conjunction with FSR’s DV-MFSW-94 presentation matrix router.

Extender

Black BoxMediaCento IPX multicast extender system multicasts HDMI video and audio to up to 250 screens on a network. Because its transmitter and receivers install directly into an existing LAN infrastructure, integration is easy. A single transmitter can deliver multimedia to many displays, and the system offers easy, cost-effective scalability. Just install a receiver for any display added to an application. The system uses visually lossless compression technology, packetizing signals so source content can be delivered anywhere there’s Ethernet wiring. Simply use a standard Gigabit network switch with IGMP to control the multicast traffic. The MediaCento IPX system uses standardized Ethernet protocols and transmits 1080p video digitally up to 328ft. (100 meters) per link, but it goes even longer with additional network switches added to the mix. Plus, it is HDCP-compliant for distributing Blu-ray content.

Microphone

AKG’s new tabletop microphones for wireless use, the CBL31 WLS and STSDAM+ are ideal for meeting rooms, courtrooms, conference rooms, and houses of worship. They are based on heavy-duty tabletop mechanics and due to their heavy weight, are highly shock-absorbent and hold the microphone firmly in place. Various AKG pocket transmitters (including the WMS40/45/420/470 and DMS700) fit into the housing of both the CBL31 WLS and STS DAM+, to transform the stations into complete wireless solutions. Both models offer a rugged mute switch (more than 25,000 switching cycles) that controls the microphone, plus an LED bar to clearly show the status. A 3.5mm input jack plug allows connection of either up to four AKG CBL410 or a laptop to transmit the audio signal of a presenter to the local PA system. The CBL31 WLS also includes the CK31 cardioid capsule from the DAM series. It is designed to fit a variety of AKG transmitters, including the PT40/45/420/450/470 and DPT700. The STSDAM+ is designed to fit AKG DAM+ series microphones, including the GN15/30/50M and CH41/43/49.

Projector

Christie expands its G series projector series to include solid-state illumination in WXGA (DWX555-GS), HD (DHD555-GS), and WUXGA (DWU555-GS) resolutions. Using DLP and a laser phosphor illumination system, it offers 20,000 hours of life, resulting in lower overall maintenance. Recommended for fixed installations where high-resolution applications are required such as boardrooms, higher education, houses of worship, and smaller location-based entertainment venues, the new projectors provide high brightness, excellent image quality, wireless connectivity, blend and warp capabilities, color matching, compact design, and Christie support and service.

Projector

The EpsonPowerLite 1930 is a bright and feature-rich projector designed for small- to medium-sized venues including hotel or conference rooms, classrooms, and houses of worship. It delivers 4,200 lumens of color brightness, 4,200 lumens white brightness, and a suite of digital connectivity options including HDMI and DisplayPort. The PowerLite 1930 projector offers XGA resolution, split-screen capability, and Faroudja DCDI video processing. It also offers automatic vertical and horizontal keystoning and Quick Corner for easy setup.
