SVC: Next Generation

InfoComm — the place where AV professionals converge each year to learn about the newest, latest, and greatest technology and trends about to wash over our industry — was the logical and most appropriate place to unveil the newest iteration of the storied industry trade publication you now hold in your hands. With this issue, SVC has been redesigned and refocused on the trends and issues that most directly impact your daily lives.
We’re particularly pleased, of course, with our cleaner, easier-to-read look — created by our art director extraordinaire, Amanda Fletcher. But the upgrade goes far beyond the look of our print magazine. As I mentioned in this space last month, this issue officially launches what is essentially an update of our brand. In print, our expanded editorial focus will examine in more detail than ever before issues of great importance to our industry — such as the AV/IT convergence, green communications, wireless technologies, HD, security issues, and standards and safety concerns. At the same time, our status as the leading technical resource for examining the technologies and products available for professional AV work will remain firmly in place.
Online, the upgrade will be even more dramatic, starting this month and continuing forward indefinitely with new tools for your consumption. I mentioned a couple of them last month — our growing slate of webcasts (svconline.com/webcasts), our Digital Signage Update enewsletter (svconline.com/newsletters/
digitalsignageupdate_archives), our expanding roster of podcast interviews with industry experts, and our revamped and more intuitive website. This month, however, I’m particularly pleased to announce the rebranding of our Residential AV enewsletter into a more comprehensive tool for serving AV professionals in the residential space — Residential AV Presents Connected Home. The Connected Home addition to our already successful newsletter is explained in detail on p. 24.
