The RX-Z11 is the flagship of Yamaha Electronic’s audio/video receiver line. The 11.2-channel amplifier delivers 140W to each of seven surround channels, and four additional channels at 50W each. The upscale receiver supports Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD Master Audio, 30/36-bit Deep Color, xvYCC, 120Hz and 24Hz refresh rates, and Auto Lip-sync—all options within the HDMI 1.3a specification. Five HDMI inputs—including one on the front panel—and two HDMI outputs are included, along with two USB inputs, which can be used to play music from an HDD or USB drive. The receiver performs analog to HDMI 1080p upscaling and HDMI audio upconversion. Network capabilities include support for Windows Media Player 11 and the Vista OS along with Microsoft PlaysForSure digital rights management. An HD Radio tuner is included. The receiver can be set up in pre-amplifier mode, which allows the power amplifier circuitry and internal preamp to be paired with an external high-end power amplifier, while the main zone pre-out passes 11.2 channels of audio.
