THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON DEALERSHIP in Meridian, Idaho, is a model of how the right AV installation can enhance a retail experience. In fact, at a recent dealer show, the Harley-Davidson Motor Co. used the store as an example of what it expects in all retail establishments. “It’s tremendous,” says Dave Thomas, owner of High Desert Harley-Davidson. “We attracted a whole new set of customers.” That was the goal when Thomas enlisted AATronics to energize his new store with fresh AV.

The experience begins the moment customers pull into the parking lot, thanks to Bose FreeSpace DS-100SE loudspeakers scattered loosely among the parking spaces and becoming more dense as they near the store entrance. Inside, AATronics created the illusion of a curved videowall using nine LG 50-inch plasma monitors. (For more detail, see “Harley Owners Get Their Disneyland,” April 2008.) All of the displays have multiple video sources and are managed by AMX Mio Classic eight-button controls.

“We’re trying to get our customers to come into the dealership and stay as long as possible, as a place to hang out,” Thomas says. “The AV system energizes my employees, it energizes customers, and it makes it just more of an interesting retail operation.”
