Imagine you’re a child going in for an MRI or CT scan. It can be a scary experience. At Miami’s Baptist Country Walk Pediatric MRI Center, the modest, creative AV system design puts young minds at ease.

It starts in the Chooz-a-Room, where kids put their favorite stuffed animals into a model CT machine and see a simulated X-ray. Next, the child chooses from 10 specially designed AV experiences that will play for them in the various procedure rooms. By pressing a series of buttons, the child can preview video clips of each selection on a 32-inch, commercial-grade NEC LCD display. Once the child selects a scene, it will be re-created in the procedure room, accompanied by sound and lighting intended to put the child at ease. All procedure rooms have LG or Sharp displays, Sound Tube speakers, custom LED lighting, and AMX touch-screen control for pulling up the child’s Chooz-a-Room selection or even shutting down all AV in case the experience is just too overwhelming.
