A member of the Audio Engineering Society since 1963, Garry Margolis is the organization’s new president. Margolis works as an international marketing consultant. He has served as the chief engineer and program director for KFMU in Los Angeles, as staff engineer at the UCLA department of music and as recording supervisor in charge of sound and projection facilities for the UCLS Motion Picture Television Division. “The industry is in the midst of a consumer audio transition of program material that is of higher resolution than ever before,” Margolis said. He hopes to “continue to explore issues involving the capture, processing, distribution and perception of such program material.” He plans to build upon the work of his colleagues and predecessors to maintain the enthusiasm of the 111th AES convention in December 2002.
