Belgian TV-services company Alfacam chose two Soundtracs DPC-II 80 fader digital consoles for its new OB Trucks. The two new trucks allow live production of two different programs in SDI and/or HDTV simultaneously. The OB 10HD and 11HD trucks are among the largest and most advanced HDTV trucks in Europe. The Van Hool coaches were custom-made with a worksurface of 68 square meters, including expanding side walls. Gabriel Fehervari, general manager for Alfacam, commendted on the choice to use Soundtracs equipment in the system: “We absolutely needed a sound desk that was capable of surround mixing, since the ob-vans are HDTV trucks. This already narrowed down the choice. A digital console was preferred because of the possibility of remote wiring. The Soundtracs DPC-II is a console with great ergonomy and is very user friendly, which is an important factor because many different technicians will be operating the desks.” Other reasons for choosing the desk included its accessibility and its affordable cost.
