American Power Conversion (APC) announced that the company will sponsor two upcoming Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) events. Organized by the CEDIA, the new education program, CU On the Road, will bring training and certification to locations in the United States and Canada throughout the year. APC will sponsor the first CU On the Road event slated for Feb. 8-11, 2006 in Atlanta and another in Dallas June 7-10, 2006.

“CEDIA is a prominent trade association for companies designing and installing home electronic components and systems,” says Joe Loberti, general manager of APC’s Consumer Network Solutions group. “APC values the opportunity to educate professionals working in the AV field through our sponsorship of these educational programs. We look forward to demonstrating the importance of high quality power protection and how APC currently addresses the needs of residential electronics professionals and their customers.”

CEDIA University is comprised of five curricula, providing best practices, information, and skills for residential electronic systems professionals. Each curriculum consists of core and elective seminar courses in the following electronic systems tracks: design, project management, customer relations, technician, and business.

The APC-sponsored CU On the Road event in February focuses on the Electronic System Technician curriculum, which prepares technicians to work in the home theater installation industry. In addition to the regular curriculum CEDIA offers, APC will provide the following free one-hour manufacturer product training courses twice daily on Thursday, Feb. 9 and Friday, Feb. 10:

  • APC AV Power Training: The Truth About Power and Its Impact on Your Customers (Course Code: MPT320, CEU Value: 0.25)—will explore the dangers of bad power and the everyday threats posed to home theater systems. This presentation will educate technicians on real-world power anomalies, their effect on the AV experience, and the strategies to protect customer investments.
  • APC AV Product Training: APC AV Solutions Training (Course Code: MPT321, CEU Value: 0.25)—will examine which APC AV solution, such as s-type power conditioner with battery backup, h-type power conditioner, c-type power filter, and Back-UPS HS, works best for certain applications.
