CEDIA, ICIA, NSCA Join Forces
Three electronic systems industry trade associations announced the upcoming launch of shows in Europe and Asia that would address the needs of their combined constituencies in those regions. The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA), the International Communications Industries Association (ICIA/InfoComm), and the National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) have formed a partnership to develop and produce joint trade exhibitions in Europe and Asia. CEDIA, ICIA, and NSCA have a combined membership of more than 5,000 companies and individuals that are located in more than 60 countries.
In Europe, as equal equity partners, CEDIA, ICIA, and NSCA will host their first European show at the Geneva PalExpo in Geneva, Switzerland, February 3 through 5, 2004. A new name and brand for the show is under development. The partners bring a systems approach, as well as a philosophy of running the highest-caliber exhibitions, education, and networking activities. With NSCA's focus on integrated electronic systems for commercial construction, ICIA's on audiovisual systems integration and communications for the professional market, and CEDIA's on home networking and home automation, the associations are designing an umbrella trade event.
In Asia CEDIA and NSCA will join with ICIA in shows conducted in Singapore and China by InfoCommAsia Pte. The first combined shows will be in 2004 for InfoComm China and 2005 for InfoComm Asia, when the exhibitions are replaced with the new show name and brand as used in Europe.
HDNet President is CEDIA Keynote Speaker
CEDIA welcomes Mark Cuban, cofounder and president of HDNet, as the 2003 CEDIA Expo keynote speaker. Cuban will speak Friday, September 5 at 8:30 a.m. at the annual Keynote Breakfast. Cuban, an investor in leading and cutting-edge technologies, cofounded HDNet, a national television network that broadcasts all of its programming in 1,080i HD, in 2001. He also cofounded Broadcast.com, a provider of multimedia and streaming on the Internet, as well as Microsolutions, a national systems integrator.
InfoComm Europe Canceled
ICIA and Koelnmesse have reached agreement to cancel the November 2003 InfoComm Europe trade show and to dissolve their partnership. The agreement moves forward the expiration date of the cooperation contract between ICIA and Koelnmesse, which was originally scheduled for 2004. The mutually acceptable agreement was because the differences between the two partners' goals made it impossible to create a joint concept for the event that would fulfill the requirements of the market.
