Associations Focus: Answering Tough Management Questions

Mar 1, 2005 12:00 PM

Profit from experience.

Make a commitment today to attend the CEDIA Management Conference April 6-9, 2005, at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio. Mark your calendar to attend, and register at www.cedia.org/mc.

This conference will demonstrate CEDIA’s continuing commitment to providing high-priority, relevant business management training by allowing attendees to:

  • Embrace fresh new perspectives and rejuvenate their thought processes
  • Mingle with top manufacturers and peek at the future of the industry
  • Share perspectives on what works and what does not
  • Network! Attendees will be among an intimate group of decision-makers gathering to leverage their knowledge and contacts.

The formal conference program for 2005 features cross-industry business veterans in human resources, financial/accounting, operations, customer service, and management. The experts in these key business areas will present their information as it relates to all industries, including electronics design and installation. No matter his or her business size or location, each veteran will offer solutions and/or ideas that attendees can incorporate into the custom installation and electronics industry.

The informal conference program is equally powerful. Throughout the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to share successes and challenges with other managers from around the world. Speakers include Bodine Balasco, Steve Farber, and Larry Winglet. (See www.cedia.org/mc, for more information on each speaker.)

The CEDIA Management Conference gives you networking and peer-to-peer idea sharing with owners and senior managers of custom electronics companies around the world to answer some of your toughest management questions.

CHANGED MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

In September, CEDIA announced the first step in its membership requirements strategic plan: creating provisional membership. Over the next several years, new requirements will raise the affiliation standards for member companies, while building a new foundation that further develops the expanding custom electronics industry.

The second phase of the plan will be implemented in March 2005, when CEDIA officially implements new requirements for regular, full CEDIA members. Effective Jan. 1, 2006, all regular, full CEDIA members must employ one full-time, CEDIA-certified professional from any discipline. This requirement is necessary to ensure that CEDIA members represent the highest level of excellence in the industry. The change will affect only regular members, not affiliate members. Companies that do not comply by Jan. 1, 2006, will remain regular members, but will be placed in the provisional membership level.

To help members meet this new requirement, CEDIA is offering the Installer Level I exam 71 times this year, in locations across North America, an increase from 41 Installer Level I, Installer Level II, and Designer exams last year. For more information on testing locations and preparing for the exams, go to www.cedia.org/certification.

CEDIA is making every effort to make this transition as smooth as possible. It is our intention to leave no company behind, but it will be your responsibility to keep up. If you have any questions or concerns, contact CEDIA at 800-669-5329.
