Every year, NSCA Expo attendees have a chance to get a closer look at products and installation techniques when they visit the show floor and attend some of the nearly 500 hours of available courses. Perhaps most unique to NSCA Expo is a tradition that was established at the very beginning of the event’s history — the numerous audio demonstration rooms. Located off the show floor so that audio setups can replicate those used in real-world applications, the audio demonstration rooms provide a rare opportunity to hear many different manufacturers’ top-notch systems in one place.

“This is one of the rich traditions that we have been able to maintain over the years,” says Chuck Wilson, NSCA executive director. “NSCA Expo is the perfect venue to see and hear new products, and the audio demonstration rooms offer a unique opportunity to be able to do that. It’s a wonderful opportunity for manufacturers to show their products in a side-by-side comparison.”

“We value the demo rooms because we feel that they really provide the opportunity that most of our existing customers, as well as our prospective customers, are looking for, which is to sonically experience our loudspeakers in a relatively neutral environment,” says Paul Freudenberg, vice president of sales and marketing for L-Acoustics U.S. (demo room W205B).

Ken DeLoria, product manager for Community Loudspeakers (demo room 204A) also appreciates the demo room setup. “The opportunity to let contractors and consultants hear our products in use is critical,” DeLoria says. “Specifications are extremely important, but sound quality cannot be conveyed by reading a spec sheet. The expo demo room gives us a chance to let people hear the result of the hundreds of hours of work that go into developing a loudspeaker line.”

Look, listen, and feel your way into new business by visiting some of the hands-on audio demonstration rooms at this year’s NSCA Expo. The following companies will showcase products at the tradeshow: AKG, Allen & Heath, American Music and Sound, Bose, BSS, Community Professional Loudspeakers, Crown International, Danley Sound Labs, dbx Professional Products, Dynacord, Eastern Acoustics Works (EAW), Electro-Voice, Harman Pro Group, Innovative Electronic Designs (IED), JBL Professional, KV2 Audio, L-Acoustics U.S., Lexicon Pro, Martin Audio, Renkus-Heinz, Soundcraft, Studer, and Tannoy.

ENHANCE YOUR TOOLKIT WITH NEW IDEAS

New to the show floor at NSCA Expo this year is the “Tools of the Trade” exhibitor area. There, attendees will find demonstrations of essential products for their toolbox.

“We hand-picked the exhibitors for the Tools of the Trade area,” says Chuck Wilson, NSCA executive director. “Our goal was to bring in some new exhibitors and highlight some existing ones that can demonstrate new techniques and tactics that will expedite work on the job site. These include new test equipment and other labor-saving devices that attendees might not have heard of before, but once discovered, will become an essential part of their toolkit.”

Be sure to check out the Tools of the Trade area, which will feature products from Eastern Manufacturing, Four Star Wire & Cable, KSI Professional, Leader Instruments, NKK Switches, Rodman & Company, and Sencore.

THE DRUNK UNKLES RETURN ON AN EDUCATIONAL MISSION

SHAPE YOUR FUTURE AT CEDIA’S ELECTRONIC LIFESTYLES EXPO

What do architects, builders, interior designers, and residential electronic systems contractors (RESC) have in common? They all share a passion and desire to bridge the gap between design and technology at CEDIA’s 2007 Electronic Lifestyles Expo.

The 2007 Electronic Lifestyles Expo is only a month away — April 18-21 (tradeshow April 20-21), at the Sands Expo & Conventions Center and Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Following are just a few of the not-to-miss events.

On Thursday, April 19, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., keynote speaker Dan Burrus will present a session titled “Technotrends.” This cutting-edge presentation teaches new ways to grow your business by doing things you thought were impossible. Learn to understand the challenges and opportunities that result in change, and learn how to use tools that you may not have ever known existed.

Dan Burrus has established a worldwide reputation for predicting the future of technological change and its impact on the business world — providing a potential competitive edge to those paying attention. In his eye-opening presentation, Burrus will take you and your company to the next level.

An Industry Panel session will take place on Saturday, April 21 from 11 a.m. to noon. Diane Dorrans Saeks, a San Francisco editor; Rich Green of Rich Green Ink; Johnnie Long Sr., a 25-year building industry veteran; and Mark Demerly, AIA, will all be sharing their expertise and combined industry knowledge at CEDIA’s 2007 Electronic Lifestyles Forum.

This “Experts Panel,” moderated by Rob Heselbarth, editor of Residential Design & Build, will highlight the future of the home-building industry, residential space, family life, and how technology will play a role in the future — from the single-family home to the MDU market. This group of industry professionals is certain to spark creative thinking and discussion.

New in 2007 will be a tradeshow component, which will take place April 20-21. This jam-packed tradeshow floor will give you the chance to see new technologies and products (the most up-to-date, cutting-edge products and technologies) from exhibitors. Also, you’ll build your network of contacts, giving you access to the biggest and best industry network in the world.

Architects, builders, and interior designers will have designated times for tradeshow floor guided tours led by CEDIA ambassadors. Tour sign-up will be onsite.

Friday, April 20, 2007, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Madame Tussaud, Las Vegas’ famed waxed museum, will provide the perfect forum for an unforgettable two-hour networking event for ESC business owners, architects, builders, and interior designers. The museum, known as the hottest must-feel attraction on the Strip, offers amazing interactive experiences for attendees. This experience will further your CEDIA relationships and core group of resources as your friends and associates will be right there with you. Don’t miss this event — be part of the fun.

CEDIA STORMS SOUNDCHECK EXPO

CEDIA will sponsor and present CEDIA University’s core curriculum at the Soundcheck Expo, March 19-21, 2007, at the World Trade Center in Mexico City. Soundcheck Expo has welcomed thousands of attendees, with the number steadily increasing each year.

In the past, CEDIA sponsored and educated residential professional attendees at the Home: Tech Expo. However, this year, a decision was made to combine that show with Soundcheck Expo. Now, Soundcheck Expo will welcome professionals from both the commercial and residential electronics industry. CEDIA is lucky to be positioned in front of both markets.

CEDIA will bring courses from the Electronic Systems Designer, Electronic Systems Project Management, and Electronic Systems Technician core curriculum. In addition to these core curricula being offered, attendees will have the chance to take CEDIA’s Latin American version of the Installer Level I Exam. In Latin America, there are currently more than 20 CEDIA Certified Professionals.

CEDIA continues to expand globally, and Latin America continues to demonstrate an overwhelming growth in the custom electronics industry. CEDIA’s next education event in Latin America is scheduled for May 4-6, 2007. For more information regarding CEDIA Education and participation in Latin America, contact Branden Camp at [email protected].

INFOCOMM 2007 MAIN EXHIBIT FLOOR SOLD OUT, TOP 50 SHOW TO RELEASE ADDITIONAL SPACE

There may be about three months until InfoComm 2007 opens in Anaheim, Calif., but it’s already bigger than last year’s record-setting professional audiovisual show.

InfoComm 07, with more than 450,000 net square feet of paid exhibit and special event space, is expected to have more than 800 exhibitors being visited by 28,000 commercial AV professionals, technology managers, chief information officers, and procurement personnel from 80 countries. More than 240 education sessions will offer the training that AV professionals rely on to stay current with a constantly changing industry.

“Attending InfoComm’s tradeshow is a valuable investment in both time and money,” says Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D., executive director of InfoComm International. “In just a few days, you can visit the most comprehensive array of professional audio, digital signage, display, conferencing, lighting, control system, and signal distribution technology manufacturers available in one location, all while receiving world-class education and training from leading experts and manufacturers.”

InfoComm is rapidly becoming known as the leading exposition for professional audio systems integration. The show features 250 audio exhibitors, audio demo rooms featuring more than 20 leading audio brands, and 30 professional audio application and technology classes. Advanced training from Syn-Aud-Con, and courses on EASE and CobraNet make InfoComm 07 the event audio pros need to attend this year.

More than 13,000 dealers, systems integrators, live event producers, and other commercial audiovisual professionals are expected to experience InfoComm 07. More than 7,000 technology managers responsible for purchasing products and 1,200 manufacturers are also anticipated.

Pavilions make the large floor easy to navigate. In addition to the Audio Pavilion, Digital Signage, Lighting and Staging, Digital Content Creation, Unified Collaborative Conferencing, Technologies for Worship, and EduComm Pavilions will be featured.

InfoComm 07 will take place June 15-21 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Exhibit space at InfoComm is in such high demand that another hall has been opened for exhibitors and special events, such as HD conferencing demonstrations, a Digital Signage Application Showcase, and more. Interested exhibitors are encouraged to call InfoComm’s Exhibition Sales at (703) 273-7200 today.

Barco, Bosch Communications, Crestron Electronics, Extron Electronics, and Sony Electronics are platinum show sponsors of InfoComm 07. Gold show sponsors include Christie Digital and Tandberg.
