AMX SUPPORTS EDUCATION

AMX contributed $25,000 to the NSCA Education Foundation at this year's NSCA Expo.

Funds raised by the foundation are used to provide tuition assistance for training programs such as EST and Project Management, educational funding for students entering the industry, and development of future educational programs.

NACDB WEBSITE RECEIVES RECORD TRAFFIC

The website for the National Association of Church Design Builders (NACDB), a non-profit organization that serves as a resource for the planning, design, and construction of churches and church-related facilities, has set a new record for traffic this spring.

The Urchin website reporting system indicated that traffic on the site, www.nacdb.com, has increased 70 percent since March 2005, with 5,200 total sessions in the month of March alone. Industry articles, NACDB newsletters, project profiles, a member directory, and a calendar of events are available on the site.

WORSHIP CONFERENCE PROVIDES TECHNICAL TRAINING

The Worship Resource and Education Conference (WREC) will be held Aug. 8-9, 2006, at the Phoenix Convention Center. The conference provides technical training in audio, video, lighting, projection, and staging in a working production environment for pastors, music ministers, media and tech directors, technicians, and volunteers.

RADVISION INTEGRATES SPIRIT AUDIO SOFTWARE

As its latest partnership with hardware, infrastructure, and software solutions, Spirit has announced that Radvision will integrate Spirit audio software into its videoconferencing products.

Spirit's field-proven technology is available for applications on PCs, mobile phones, 3G video-enabled phones, voice and video over IP customer premises equipment, and VoIP infrastructure equipment.

SAMSUNG GAINS POWER PARTNER MEMBERS FROM NASBA

NASBA, the Association of Channel Resellers, and the Information Technology Division of Samsung Electronics America have announced an arrangement to support membership in Samsung's Power Partner program. The program provides the resources that VARs need to be successful and reach their sales goals. Partner benefits include special promotions, lead referrals, training and technical support, and collateral and marketing materials.

According to Richard Hutton, senior channel marketing manager, Samsung Electronics America, NASBA's sizable membership, custom services, and new Digital Home/Edge program will allow Samsung to self-select partners to ensure the depth and breadth of representation needed as its product lines and markets evolve.

TOUCHSCREEN SWEEPS AWARDS

The Touch It touchscreen LCD video system from Wohler won several key awards at NAB 2006, including a Television Broadcast NAB 2006 Top Innovation Award, a TV Technology STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) Award, a Pick Hit from Broadcast Engineering, and Videography's Vidy Award.

The Touch It series offers simple monitoring of multi-channel video, as well as providing routing and an external video screen output, in a compact and versatile space-saving 3RU device. The touchscreen video monitor is ideal for multi-camera live shoots, machine rooms, and outside broadcasts.

SHIPBOARD DIGITAL SIGNAGE HONORED

Smart Technologies and Carnival Cruise Lines have won the 2006 Digital Retailer of the Year Award for Best in Class Creative Content: Hospitality at the 2006 Digital Retailing Expo. Smart's Actalyst interactive digital signage is aboard several Carnival Cruise Lines vessels, including Carnival Miracle, Carnival Valor, and Carnival Liberty. Acting as a virtual concierge, interactive bulletin board, and wayfinder, the touch-enabled digital signage screen is used by guests to access information about deck plans, onboard events, meal times, shipboard staff, shore tours, and port-of-call information.
