The MTPX Plus Series of Twisted Pair Matrix Switchers from Extron Electronics features dynamic skew compensation, RS-232 control signal insertion, local audio/video inputs and outputs, and level and peaking compensation. Available in six fixed I/O sizes from 8×16 to 32×32, the switchers are capable of routing high-resolution video and audio signals 1,000 feet or more over CAT-5, 5e, or 6 UTP cable. Each model enables distribution of RGBHV, RGBS, RGsB, RsGsBs, component video, S-video, and composite video signals in either new or existing construction projects. According to the company, the MTPX Plus Series works well with the new Extron MTP U Series Universal Mini Twisted Pair Receivers. Adding two new products to its twisted pair line of long distance audio/video products, Kramer Electronics has launched the TP-45 (pictured above) and TP-46. According to the company, the TP-45 transmitter and TP-46 receiver simplify the routing of either computer graphics video or component video, along with either unbalanced analog stereo audio or S/PDIF digital audio signals over UTP CAT-5 cable. The TP-45 transmitter accepts a computer graphics video signal on a 15-pin HD connector with resolutions up to UGXA and a component video signal (Y, Cb/Pb, Cr/Pr) on 3 RCA connectors with resolutions up to 1080p. The TP-45 also accepts an unbalanced analog stereo audio signal on a 3.5mm mini jack connector and an S/PDIF digital audio signal on an RCA connector. The audio signal on the TP-46 is distributed simultaneously to the analog and digital audio outputs. The TP-45 converts the signal for transmission over a standard UTP CAT-5 type twisted pair cable up to 330 feet, where it is transformed back into its original audio and video signal formats by the TP-46. Expanding its Adagio line, Crestron Electronics has launched the Adagio Media System (AMS), adding surround sound processing and video for home theater as well as whole house audio distribution. The AMS features the Adagio integrated architecture including built-in tuners, amplifier, multi-room processors, Crestron 2-Series control system, e-Control web browser, and Ethernet connectivity with front panel control. The AMS-AIP model adds video scaling up to 1080p and on-screen display. It also features a surround sound processor and powerful 7-channel amplifier (100 watts per channel) designed to drive any 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 theater speaker system. AMS supplies 10 analog stereo inputs, one analog 7.1 surround input, and built-in high-definition video switching, handling 3 HDMI, 6 HDTV/component, 4 S-Video, and 4 composite sources. Price: N/A. Kramer Electronics offers the VM-28HDMI 2 input 1:8 HDMI distribution amplifier and the VM-216HDMI 2 input 1:16 HDMI distribution amplifier. The VM-28HDMI allows the distribution of one of two HDMI input sources to eight destinations, and the VM-216HDMI allows distribution of one of two HDMI input sources to 16 destinations. The VM-28HDMI and VM-216HDMI are both HDCP-compliant and support up to 1.65Gb/s bandwidth to ensure compatibility with all HDTV standards, including 1080p/60 signals. Both models also feature enhanced extended display identification data (EDID) operation. Each unit can read a separate EDID in non-volatile memory or provide the default EDID of 720p if one is not stored. The TPMC-8X-DSW wall-mount docking station from Crestron Electronics facilitates charging of the TPMC-8X WiFi touch-panel while enabling fully wired touchpanel operation. This unit is the latest wireless touchpanel from Crestron communicating via 802.11a/b/g and integrating a host of technologies, including Windows XP operating system and PC applications, biometric fingerprint scanner, NetMeeting, Skype, Bluetooth, and more. While docked, the TPMC-8X is secured in place by an electronic latch. When released, the mechanism extends the touchpanel outward, ready to be disengaged for wireless use. All functions of the docking station can also be controlled programmatically from the control system via Ethernet, and through the company’s RoomView remote management software. On the rear of the TPMC-8X-DSW, a 10/100 Ethernet port provides for direct connection to a wired LAN, allowing fully wired operation of the touchpanel while docked. Gefen‘s new 4×4 HDMI CAT-5 Matrix comes equipped with four HDMI inputs and four HDMI/CAT-5 outputs. According to the company, any one of the four sources can be assigned to one of the four outputs and extended up to 330 feet with full HDCP-compliance using an IR remote control. The switcher works with all set top boxes, HD DVD, and Blu-Ray disk players and game systems as well as HDTV displays and projectors equipped with HDMI. Each of four receivers can be placed up to 330 feet from the unit. With the 4×4 HDMI CAT-5 Matrix, HDTV sources and displays are integrated in plug and play fashion, while high-definition resolutions are supported up to 1080p. Price: $1,999. Chief Manufacturing announces the availability of new steel stud swing arms for 10- to 50-inch flat panel displays up to 125 pounds. The company offers the UL-listed FWDSK fully assembled swing arm mount (pictured above) and the FSA1018 single stud wall plate for small flat panel displays (10 to 26 inches). Chief also offers the FWGSK swing arm mount, which is not yet UL listed. The JWDSK swing arm mount and MAC118 dual stud wall plate for medium flat panel displays (27 to 40 inches) are compatible with 16-/20-/24-inch center studs and UL listed for 16-inch center studs. Middle Atlantic Products recently unveiled its re-engineered RSH Custom Rackshelf. According to the company, as active components trend wider and exhaust heat from the side, the enhanced RSH Custom Rackshelf provides increased ventilation on the sides as well as the base. The unit also features three new application-engineered ‘L’ brackets that are narrower to fit between the connections on the back of components, preventing components from sliding backwards. The AQUOS HDTV D64U Series (models LC-65D64U, LC-52D64U, LC-46D64U and LC-42D64U) of LCD televisions is available in 65-, 52-, 46- and 42-inch screen sizes from Sharp Electronics Corp. These new Energy Star-compliant models feature a thin, lightweight bezel that provides a significantly smaller footprint than previous models, according to the company. Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America announces its latest 1080p home theater projector, the HC6000. Enhancing its HC5000 model with Texas Instruments’ BrilliantColor upgrade for richer colors and greater performance in clear high-definition resolution, the new HC6000 offers a contrast ratio of 12,000:1. According to the company, an improved auto iris function allows quicker light to black image adjustment. In addition, the unit includes Silicon Optix’s Reon processing chip internally, resulting in a small, efficient form factor. Auralex Acoustics has announced that its SpaceCoupler recently passed the requirements of a “Class B” fire-rating and testing in accordance with ASTM E84, a standard test for surface burning characteristics of building materials that calculates both flame spread and smoke densities. Still undergoing final acoustical testing, the SpaceCoupler optimizes acoustical environments for a wide range of performance and recording styles, according to the company. The MaxBlox CD-MX9M (male) and CD-MX9F (female) DB9 connectors from BTX Technologies will be on display. These patent-pending professional 9-pin D-sub connectors feature a rugged design, allowing installers to terminate a DB9 with a screwdriver. According to the company, the connectors can be panel- or cable-mounted in a MaxBlox CD-MX915H hood in a fraction of the time it would take to solder. When used in conjunction with the hood, these connectors slide, snap, and lock into the hood without the use of tools. New from Leon Speaker Corp., the Leon Seven Series uses high-end drivers, including two hand-made German Eton 7-inch patented HEXACONE long throw woofers, and the Raven R2 True Ribbon tweeter (all aluminum diaphragm) from Orca. The product boasts a 40 Hz to 50 kHz frequency response and a power rating of 250 watts. According to the company, the Seven Series offers detailed high frequencies and powerful bass — the baffle is 1.25 inches thick, minimizing unwanted resonance and vibrations. Chief Manufacturing has unveiled new side and center channel speaker adapters for integration into flat panel wall installations. According to the company, the PACLR1 left/right speaker adapter and PACCC1 center channel speaker adapter feature advanced adjustability to position speakers flush with the screen. The new speaker adapters fit flat panel TVs up to 50 inches and are compatible with the company’s medium and large mounting solutions. Anchor Bay is debuting its DVDO iScan VP50PRO. According to the company, this product is the world’s first video processor to feature THX certification, which signifies that a product has met a series of rigorous theater-quality standards, and to use HDMI 1.3 receiver/transmitter chips, allowing users to connect other HDMI-compliant 1.3 devices that support high-resolution audio formats and Deep Color (available on some newer sources like HD-DVD Blu-Ray and PS3). The VP50PRO is the culmination of all of the company’s Video Reference Series (VRS) technologies, including mosquito noise reduction, fine detail enhancement, and edge enhancement, which greatly improve the quality of compressed and low-resolution content coming from STBs, DVRs, DVD, IPTV, and other digital media devices when viewed on high-resolution displays. It also transmits signals up to 350 feet outdoors and features buttons for pause/play and track forward/track back for remote iPod operation.
