Electrograph Systems announced that its second Display Technology Experience (DTE) of 2006 will be held on Wednesday, May 3 at the South San Francisco Conference Center in San Francisco, California from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event is free for resellers.

Display technologies highlighted at the DTE include: plasma displays, LCD displays, rear projection TVs, mounts, audio, Cat-5 products, video scalers and interfaces, input cards, touch overlays, tuners, and power conditioners.

Electrograph’s DTE attracts major manufacturers who will provide demos of the newest products and meet one-on-one with resellers to answer any questions they may have.

“Our DTE is designed so that resellers can get one-on-one time with leading manufacturers,” says Sam Taylor, president, Electrograph Systems. “This is a great forum for both consumer and commercial resellers to meet the people who know their business inside and out. And, it’s all free.”

Manufacturers exhibiting at the DTE’s Product Showcase include: Pioneer, NEC, Samsung, Panasonic, Sony, Philips, Sharp, LG, Mitsubishi, and Hitachi. An array of peripheral product vendors will also be exhibiting to provide an overview of the complete display solution.

The DTE also offers two educational tracks, Business Building and Technical Training, to give resellers insight to help them improve their business. Attendees who participate in either track will earn .75 National System Contractors Association (NSCA) University learning credits per session.

“Our instructors are true industry leaders. We’ve partnered with them and have put a great amount of thought into creating the two tracks,” says Taylor. “Both offer something for everyone—from hands-on knowledge for installers on the job to innovative business and marketing strategies for owners.”

“The fact that attendees will earn NSCA University Learning Credits speaks volumes about the quality of this educational event,” says Chuck Wilson, NSCA executive director. “I’m proud to be a part of the event.”

Joe Kane, former chair of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) Working Group on Professional and Studio Monitors, will be a special guest at the Product Showcase. He introduced the idea of display device calibration to consumers in a laserdisc called A Video Standard. It was the first comprehensive video reference to the NTSC video system. As CEO of Joe Kane Productions, he is currently finishing work on Digital Video Essentials, helping to introduce HDTV to consumers. Kane’s appearance at the DTE is sponsored by Samsung.

Sponsored by Panasonic, the Business Building Track will feature two sessions taught by John and Jeanne Stiernberg and Michael MacDonald. The Stiernbergs are respected strategic marketing and business development consultants and industry analysts. MacDonald is the former president of JBL Professional and is an independent consultant assisting companies with product and marketing strategies as well as staff and business development.

The Stiernbergs’ session, Combating Commoditization: Selling Value in a Price-Driven World, will examine how integrators can add value by extending their knowledge and services beyond their competition. MacDonald’s session, Ten Reasons Your Company May Fail—And How to Fix Them, will utilize real-world examples and case studies to explore and provide solutions to ten fatal mistakes all contractors may make.

Sponsored by Sharp, The Technical Training Track will feature two sessions taught by Alan Brawn and Bill Whitlock. Brawn is a Pro AV Hall of Fame member and Whitlock has an extensive background in high-performance and wideband analog circuit designs. Brawn’s session, Installation Standards and Practices, will help resellers develop a technical training roadmap so that they may stand out and increase their sales by having trained personnel. Whitlock’s session, Solving Ground Loop Problems in Video, will offer solutions on eliminating ground loops that cause hum bars in video systems, without compromising safety.

Registration is online at www.electrographdte.com. Complete DTE information, including an agenda, faculty bios, and hotel details, may also be found at the website. Space is limited and attendees must register by April 30.
