New Lighting Division
M&L s.r.l. of Bellusco, a lighting company in Milan, merged with Proel S.p.A., and the new Proel Lighting division was formed. The new division, led by product manager Roberto Meggiolaro, will allow Proel to offer a wider range of products to the pro audio and lighting market. Proel Lighting will put out a Lighting Master Catalog, which will carry products in categories such as lighting machines, theater, light optical fiber, lamps, cases, electric distribution and so on.
Math Associates Now Liteway
To clarify its products, services and orientation to potential customers, Math Associates Inc. of Hicksville, New York, is now Liteway Inc. They manufacture and sell modern, cost-effective fiber optic transmission systems designed to convey base-band video, audio, RS-232/422/485 data, IRIG time codes and similar signals over distances of 40 miles or more.
Wharfedale Creates Systems Division
The International Audio Group (IAG) announced that product lines covered by Wharfedale Professional will be divided into two divisions: WharfeDale Pro and Wharfedale Systems. The new Systems Division will include installation speakers such as the Programme 30 D, 2080 and 2090 series as well as the LoudPanel line. Wharfedale Pro will focus on the VS, LiX and EVP high-performance loudspeakers.
Hafler Expands Amp Availability
Once available only at select retail outlets, Hafler's TA series amplifiers can now be purchased at all authorized Hafler dealers nationwide. Hafler officials said that the demand for the TA and TA models — which are two-channel, U convection-cooled power amps — spurred the decision to widen their availability.
ATC, Amtec Enter Licensing Agreement
The American Technology Corporation agreed to a royalty-bearing manufacturing agreement with Amtec Manufacturing of Canada, a supplier of completed loudspeaker systems to well-known home theater, multimedia and high-fidelity brands. The agreement provides royalties on sales of subwoofers and other speaker systems using ATC's PureBass technology.
GVI Announces Leasing Program
GVI Inc. DBA Samsung CCTV is offering a lease program for security industry dealers (through Samsung CCTV Prestige Leasing Services). Dealers can offer the option of leasing directly to their customers. Dealers are provided with all the materials and training, and Samsung administers the management of the program for the dealer internally. The program is also available to distributors who want to make leasing available to their dealers.
Folsom's Quality Management System Certified
Folsom Research's Quality Management System has been registered as compliant with the International Standard ISO 9001:2000. The company, which is based in Rancho Cordova, California, specializes in radar image processing equipment, video scan converters, seamless switchers, simulation products and custom engineering services.
IAG Opens German Arm
The International Audio Group (IAG) was represented at the Frankfurt MusikMesse by its new German operation, IAG (Deutschland) GmbH. Based on Korschenbroich (near Dusseldorf), the office serves as the headquarters for Wharfedale Professional, Wharfedale Systems, Soundtracs Topaz and Solo brands and hi-fidelity brands owned by IAG.
NTK NewTek Now Infinova
NTK NewTek of a Princeton, New Jersey, has changed its name to Infinova. The company, which specializes in security solutions, has also announced a wider product line.
New Classes By DPI
Digital Projection Inc. (DPI) is now offering two user/operator certification training courses. “Digital Projection” is a three-day course that provides basic instruction about the operation and maintenance of the company's high-performance projection systems. “Digital Projection Masters” offers detailed instruction for experienced professional projectionists who have completed the basic course and have experience in the field.
Symetrix Signs Deal with Peak Audio
Symetrix signed an affiliation agreement with Peak Audio Inc. (a division of Cirrus Logic) that will let the company incorporate the CobraNet technology into current and future products, such as the SymNet Audio Matrix hardware system. Cobranet distributes digital audio and control signals over MB Ethernet cable.
Sony Taps MCSi
Sony Electronics Inc. has selected MCSi Inc. to sell and support Sony's audio and videoconferencing line of products. In addition to offering system integration and service support, MCSi will offer Sony's ISDN- and IP-capable solutions: the PCS- set-top and the room-based PCS-IP video conferencing systems. MCSi will also supply Sony's line of audioconferencing products, including the SX-M and the SX-A.
Lyon Goes with Fujinon Lenses
Lyon Video, a mobile production company in the Midwest, has purchased Fujinon lenses for a new all-digital expando truck. The unit will include two XAx.ESM field HD lenses with OS-Tech stabilizers, four ax. telephoto ENG lenses with ratio converters and one ax. wide-angle ENG lens with a ratio converter.
