Celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2006, Kramer Electronics, an ISO 9001 : 2000 certified company and a worldwide supplier of audio, video, and computer graphics signal distribution, switching, and processing equipment, is pleased to announce the newest addition to its product line—the SP-10D multi-standard, multi-format video processor. The SP-10D is a broadcast-quality solution, providing Proc Amp controls, standards conversion, signal format conversion, and time base correction, all in one box.

The SP-10D will accept an input signal in various formats including composite, Y/C, YUV, RGB, or RGBS, and outputs all these formats simultaneously. It will convert signals to any video standard (NTSC, PAL, SECAM), and the output can be genlocked to an external video reference. Alternatively, the SP-10D can synthesize its own timing to provide a full time-base corrected (TBC) output. The unit also has a genlock input, a genlock output and a split-screen output.

“This product is a universal single-box solution for all video processing needs”, states Chris Kopin, vice president of product development for Kramer Electronics USA. “This compact unit delivers signal processing, format conversion, standards conversion, and time base correction functions, all with full 10-bit digital processing so there is no compromise on quality.”

The SP-10D provides the most important Proc Amp controls, including video gain, brightness, contrast, color, hue, and both horizontal and vertical sharpness control. The unit also offers a full range of color control features for the YUV and RGB color spaces and includes a four-field processing memory to ensure the highest possible picture quality. It also has 16 non-volatile memory locations for storing and recalling settings, and will retain the last used settings upon power down. For ease of use, the SP-10D has a split-screen output for easy viewing of the “before and after” effects of Proc Amp changes made to the input signal. And this product is also equipped with a freeze frame function.

The SP-10D can process, convert, and output a wide range of signal standards, including PAL-B, PAL-M, PAL-N, NTSC 3.58, NTSC 4.43 and SECAM signals. This model can also be genlocked to an external video reference signal with control of horizontal delay and SCH phase or it can function as a time base corrector (TBC) by synthesizing its own timing signal which can be used to genlock a system.

The SP-10D utilizes full 10-bit processing to ensure high-quality performance. Control of the unit can be achieved through simple front-panel buttons along with a convenient seven-segment LCD display, and also via RS-232 for use with a computer or third party control system.

The Kramer SP-10D is now in stock and available through Kramer Electronics sales offices worldwide.
