Lutron Electronics broke ground on its fourth Experience Center, which will open early 2009 in midtown Manhattan, company officials said..

The new 1,800-square-foot center will occupy the ground floor of the Decoration & Design (D&D) Building, one of four Cohen Design Centers. It represents more than 3,000 leading manufacturers dedicated to offering the best in residential and business interior furnishings, educational opportunities, and resource information. Products represented include fabrics, wall coverings, traditional and contemporary furniture, carpets, lighting, antiques, art, and accessories.

According to Lutron officials, the Manhattan location will feature a variety of the company’s residential products showcased in space typical of New York City living. In addition to bedroom, kitchen, and media/family room vignettes, the space will include a showroom and design center that will give clients the opportunity to view a range of product colors, finishes, sustainable lighting control options, and shade fabrics.

Lutron Experience Centers offer system designers, architects, interior designers, and their clients the opportunity to experience the energy savings and elegance of Lutron products in a home-like setting, says the company.

The Manhattan location will be Lutron’s fourth Experience Center. Other locations include Irvine, Calif., and Coopersburg, Penn., at the company’s world headquarters. Its first Experience Center, in Plantation, Fla., opened in 2001.
