Meridian Acquires Sooloos

Meridian Audio, a British manufacturer of digital AV systems, acquired U.S.-based Sooloos, a media server manufacturer.

Meridian Audio, a British manufacturer of digital AV systems, acquired U.S.-based Sooloos, a media server manufacturer. The acquisition closed on December 4, 2008, for an undisclosed amount.

“As the market evolves toward download and streaming content and more sophisticated forms of control, we have been seeking the right partner to widen our scope and enable us to further excite our customers,” said Meridian CEO Tim Ireland in a statement.

“Under the Meridian corporate umbrella, we gain advantages in global market access, as well as a network of engineering and technology resources that are unequalled anywhere,” said Peter Wellikoff, Sooloos chief operating officer.

The two companies plan only modest changes for the near future, officials say. Sooloos will retain offices in New York City. The research and development teams are already working closely together. Sooloos founders Enno Vandermeer and Danny Dulai, as well as other key executives, will remain with the company.

Sooloos products will be distributed via Meridian’s global network of specialist distributors, dealers, and custom integrators, and will retain the Sooloos brand and identity. U.S. Distribution will be coordinated by Meridian America in Atlanta, while export markets will be served by Meridian Audio from the U.K.
