Middle Atlantic Products realized that problems with cooling equipment in residential installations are similar to those in AV facilities. With this in mind, the company is promoting the Duct Cool series ventilation system, originally designed for the residential market, to pro AV customers at InfoComm (booth C3403).

Company officials said Duct Cool removes heat from equipment without adding noise at the equipment location. In situations where the equipment is close to or in the same room as a meeting, presenter, or audience, the Duct Cool will cool it quietly and effectively. The vent system fan can be mounted remotely–12 to 25 feet away is recommended–without significant loss of performance, the company says. It can also be mounted directly on a rack enclosure with an optional top mount. A temperature probe and thermostatic control save energy by running the system only when needed.

The system’s two main components are a mixed-flow fan assembly and 25 feet of 4-inch or 6-inch ID insulated flexible ducting, depending on the model. It comes as a complete kit with hardware, a special high-strength mounting plate, a temperature probe, and an air intake assembly.

At the core of Duct Cool’s performance is the mixed-flow fan assembly, which can be quickly and easily mounted horizontally or vertically, with or without the plate, said the company. Rubber vibration dampeners added to the mounting points isolate the unit for an even quieter performance.
