Adding to their large volunteer base, the NSCA formed the Consultants’ Council to support and advocate for this sector of the ever-growing commercial electronic systems industry. “The NSCA has active volunteer groups serving contractors, manufacturers and sales reps,” said Chuck Wilson, NSCA executive director. “It was only natural that we include consultants as they, too, are an important part of our industry.”

At this time, the council is: Don Bailey, Technology Design Resources; Tim Cape, Waveguide Consulting; Brian Cline, Cline & Associates; Dave Marsh, Pelton Marsh Kinsella; Thom Mullins, Sparling; and Craig Park, Shen Milson Wilke. Three council positions are pending. NSCA board member Al Kesler is the council’s liaison.

At their first meeting, the council proposed these mission points: to increase the value of independent consulting for owners, architects, contractors and manufacturers; to establish best practices for the consulting community; to contribute to CSI’s MasterFormat; to help develop educational programs; and to work to improve the overall perception of consultants.
