NuVo Technologies launched its new WA30 Volume Control and Amplifier specifically for the modern classroom.

NuVo Technologies, best known for its residential multiroom audio systems, launched its new WA30 Volume Control and Amplifier specifically for the modern classroom.

Company officials said the $249 WA30 could be built into a wall so it’s easily accessible to the teacher. The unit pairs a 30-watt amplifier with a volume control in a single decora wall plate, with two hard-wired source inputs in the rear of the unit and two overriding mini stereo source inputs on the front. The hard-wired rear inputs enable long-term connections of source units like DVD players, VCRs and computers, while the front mini stereo inputs enable easy on-the-fly connection of portable devices like iPods, MP3 players, and laptop computers. The WA30’s intuitive on-wall controls make it easy for the teacher to control source selection, power, and volume, according to the company.

The WA30 can be coupled with a pair of compact on-wall or in-ceiling speakers to deliver classroom audio without the hassle of ceiling amplifiers or expensive wall-mounted units. Speakers and power wire directly to the back of the WA30 wall unit.

NuVo has already sold 10,000 WA30 units in the United Kingdom and is now introducing the product to the United States.

“Cost, reliability and ease of use are critical issues in the education market, and the WA30 addresses those concerns,” said David Rodarte, president and chief operating officer of NuVo Technologies, in a statement. “It’s a compelling audio solution for the classroom that costs about half the price of competitive products while delivering twice as many features.”
