Omneon announced that its board of directors selected Suresh Vasudevan as the company’s president and CEO and as a member of the board. Vasudevan comes to Omneon after serving as senior vice president of product operations at NetApp and as a member of the company’s executive team, leading all product management and engineering for the NetApp product portfolio.
“Suresh brings a great balance of leadership and product management knowledge to the company, and we look forward to his guiding Omneon to the next level,” said Lawrence Kaplan, who has acted as interim president and CEO at Omneon since May 2008 and will return to his role as vice chairman of the board.
Vasudevan’s career at NetApp spanned almost a decade. While there, he held several senior executive positions, beginning in corporate development, followed by lead product management, and eventually heading up all product operations. He played an instrumental role enabling NetApp to expand its product portfolio beyond the network-attached storage (NAS) market into the storage area network (SAN) and disk-based backup markets.
Prior to his time with NetApp, Vasudevan worked at the management consulting firm McKinsey & Co. in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Chicago as a senior engagement manager focusing on product marketing, operations, and marketing strategy.
