Runco International, the world leaders in video display products and technologies, was recently announced as a recipient of the 2006 CEDIA (Consumer Electronic Design and Installation Association) Manufacturers’ Excellence Award. For the second consecutive year, Runco proudly accepted the industry’s top honor, as the company’s RS-1100 with CineWide 1080p DLP projector was selected amongst the year’s best new products.
Each year, this top accreditation is awarded to the best new products and technologies that enhance the business of installation professionals. Hundreds of manufacturer entrants are considered, ranging from revolutionary new technology to innovative software, and everything in between. Culminating at a lavish ceremony at the Denver Hyatt on Saturday, Sept. 16th, CEDIA presented Runco and four other honorees with the prestigious 2006 award.
“We are very excited to be honored by CEDIA for a second straight year,” says Bob Hana, president of Runco International. “At Runco, we are committed to providing our dealers and consumers with the most innovative video solutions to suit their individual home theater and installation needs. The high-performance RS-1100 with CineWide projector allows us to create the ultimate home theater experience.”
Runco’s Reflection series RS-1100 CineWide projector is the first 1080p, single-chip DLP projector on the market to display native 1080p content, feature Runco’s exclusive CineWide technology and achieve Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) certification; engineered and calibrated for the finest video reproduction and certified to comply with ISF exacting standards for excellence in picture quality. Equipped with CineWide technology, the RS-1100 reproduces uncompromised widescreen reproduction of movies originally filmed in the CinemaScope 2.35:1 format by eliminating black bars from the screen to watch the film the way the director originally intended. An ingenious combination of software, electronics and precision anamorphic optics, Runco’s proprietary technology stretches the 1.78:1 (16:9) formatted image vertically, so the black bars at the top and the bottom are eliminated and active picture area fills the screen. The anamorphic lens then vertically stretches the images, restoring the picture to its original, geometrically correct, and full 2.35:1 CinemaScope aspect ratio, utilizing every pixel.
In addition, the RS-1100 with CineWide was honored as a finalist in the RESI Awards from Residential Systems, and named as a “Product of the Year” from Electronic House. Runco’s PlasmaWall PL-61DHD, as well as the company’s DHD video controller, also received Excite! Awards at this year’s CEDIA EXPO.
