Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope and CompUSA Tee Up National Promotion Benefit

Nov 9, 2004 12:55 PM

Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope (www.fourseasonsofhope), a major national charity benefiting kids and families, and CompUSA (www.compusa.com), one of the country’s leading retailers of computer equipment, are teaming up with golf legend Arnold Palmer via a special retail and online promotion that will benefit children and women in need. From November 1st through November 30th, Samsung and CompUSA are encouraging customers to make donations to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women through a variety of purchases and activities. This is the third year for this special charity promotion, which has raised over $1 million for the hospital in the last two years.

Throughout the month long promotion, Samsung and CompUSA are offering customers several different ways to participate. For every purchase of a Samsung 710MP flat panel display or a Samsung CLP 500 color laser printer, Samsung will donate $10.00 per unit to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Women. CompUSA is also donating 10% back to the hospital on network installation and technical services.

Additionally, consumers can make donations directly to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women by purchasing $1, $3 or $5 coupons at the register as they check out.

CompUSA customers will also be invited to enter a Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope contest at www.samsungusa.com/palmer. Prizes include Callaway golf equipment, Samsung products, CompUSA gift cards and autographed photos from Mr. Palmer. A tear pad will be handed out to customers as they leave the register so that they can enter the contest.

“It’s wonderful to work with Samsung & CompUSA again in 2004 to raise money for the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women,” said Arnold Palmer. “Through Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope program, we can raise valuable funds to further the services & facilities available at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women. This is truly a great program and partnership.”

The Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women, located in Orlando, Florida, is the only hospital in the southeast – and one of only six in the nation – dedicated to serving the unique needs of children and women. All monies donated to the hospital will enhance the quality of life for patients during their stay at the hospital.

The CompUSA effort is one leg of Samsung’s Four Season’s of Hope, an innovative year-round national goodwill program that brings together four of the world’s greatest sports legends–golf’s Arnold Palmer, football’s Boomer Esiason, baseball’s Joe Torre and basketball’s Magic Johnson — for a unique, retail program that aims to improve the quality of life for children and their families who face major challenges. Legendary rocker Jon Bon Jovi has also joined Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope as the official musician.

“The Samsung and CompUSA partnership raised significant funds for the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women over the past two years, and we are honored to again support the important work that the hospital is doing to help children and women,” explained Peter Weedfald, Senior Vice President, Strategic Marketing, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. “We encourage consumers to join us in contributing to this very special cause.”

“Arnold Palmer Hospital does so much for so many people, it is truly a joy for CompUSA to help support such an outstanding organization,” said Tony Weiss, President of CompUSA stores and COO.
