You’ve heard about media servers, read about the myriad of LED displays, and seen a lot of unique projections on Broadway. Scharff Weisberg will help demystify video as it relates to “convergence” technologies with an all-day seminar designed to show lighting professionals how these technologies work. The seminar will be followed by a panel discussion and cocktail party. Interested parties can RSVP for the all-day seminar and/or panel and cocktail reception by registering online at www.regonline.com/scharffweisberg. The seminar, panel, and party will be held on Thursday, March 23, at the Metropolitan Pavilion at 110 West 19th Street in New York.

“A lot of lighting professionals in our industry are very excited about ‘new and converging technologies’ but may not be aware of how they work, how they integrate with one another, and the breadth of what can be accomplished from a creative standpoint,” says Scharff Weisberg Lighting General Manager Ben Saltzman. “At Scharff Weisberg, we are uniquely qualified to lend our insight from video, lighting, and postproduction points of view.”

The seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour catered lunch. Following the seminar, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., a panel of top projection designers will discuss projection technology from technical and creative perspectives. A cocktail reception concludes the full day from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Planned topics for the seminar include video systems layout (Video 101), media servers, show control, media display technologies (ranging from projectors to low- and high-resolution LEDs), and media creation (including encoding, mastering and playback methods). The seminar will be led by Scharff Weisberg’s seasoned professionals.
