Sony announced that it has expanded its partnership with Imago Group PLC to include the distribution of its mid- to high-end projectors. The deal builds on the existing agreement between the two companies for Sony videoconferencing, network video monitoring, and large-format display products. Imago will focus on marketing the projector units to AV resellers as part of Sony’s strategy to develop and support this channel.

The deal will give Imago access to Sony projectors in the 2500 lumens and above range, all of which use the Sony 3LCD technology. This will cover both installation and wireless models including the VPL-CX63, VPL-CX76, VPL-CX86, and VPL-FX52 from the current Sony portfolio and the introduction of the new VPL-FE40, VPL-FX40 models.

“We are very excited to be extending our relationship with Imago. The company is well respected amongst AV resellers and has had great success selling Sony videoconferencing, network video monitoring, and large-format display products into the channel,” says Rita Lip, Sony UK product manager. “We are confident that with Imago at our side we can replicate this success in projectors and strengthen our own position as a leading AV vendor across our key market spaces including: rental, signage, auditoriums, and higher education.”

“We are extremely pleased to be adding Sony projectors to our portfolio,” says Ian Vickerage, managing director of Imago. “We now not only able to offer the leading Sony 3LCD projector technology, but are also better placed to provide a complete Sony AV solution to our customers.”
