Two unexpected presenters introduced Hitachi’s new CP-A100+FXDuo Bundle Wednesday afternoon at InfoComm. “Temporary vice presidents,” Michael and Riley, children featured in recent Hitachi advertisements, demonstrated the product and delighted the audience before passing the mic to the next presenter.

The bundle combines the Hitachi CP-A100 ultra short-throw projector with the StarBoard FX Duo 77 interactive whiteboard and a custom-designed wall-arm mount. The mount protrudes from the top of the whiteboard to suspend the projector at a distance and angle that reduces shadows cast by the presenter onto the board and improves visibility for the audience.

The FX Duo 77 allows two students to work simultaneously, as Michael and Riley showed. Using hand gestures instead of tools on the touch-enabled board, the children reduced image sizes with a pinching motion, scrolled up and down with their fists, and made a peace sign for the right-click function.

There are no electronics within the board; instead, they are stored in an enclosure the runs along the top of the screen. With cost-of-ownership in mind, the projector’s lamp and filter doors can be accessed without removing it from the mount.

Security was also a concern, so Hitachi provided several features, including a security bar, Kensington lock, PIN lock, My Screen function that embeds the school or company’s logo on the screen, and transition detector, which prevents the projector from operating without a PIN code when the projector is removed from the mount.
