In-car karaoke coming to Sony Honda Mobility’s Afeela electric vehicles

Song lyrics populate Afeela's large display as drivers can browse over 100,000 tracks

Fresh off the news that Afeela electric vehicles would be be coming with Zoom meetings as a standard integrated feature, Sony Honda Mobility Inc. has announced that the line will come with a surprising in-car entertainment option: karaoke.

Sony Honda Mobility (a joint venture between Sony and Honda Automotive) revealed its Afeela prototype in January of 2023, which features 45 cameras and sensors on the interior and exterior of the vehicle. Sony announced early this week that it is partnering with Stringray Group Inc. to expand its in-car entertainment services. This partnership will give drivers access to Stringray Karaoke, which will provide over 100,000 licensed tracks for in-car sing-along sessions.

Hyundai says drivers want more buttons, less touchscreens

Sony says that the tracks span decades, and will be browsable by title, artist, and genre. Sony’s release says that tracks will include Pop, Rock, Country, Rap, R&B, K-Pop, Holiday Classics and Kids & Family. Further details about Afeela Stingray Karaoke are not yet available, but preview images show song lyrics displayed on the Afeela’s expansive dashboard.

Preorders for the Afeela EV are scheduled to open up early next year, with the first round of shipping scheduled for spring 2026.
