Apple has revealed that it is giving its updated Vision Pro XR headset a spec bump, owing mainly to the company’s new M5 chip. According to the company, the M5 chip doesn’t just offer more CPU and GPU, but also unlocks upgraded image quality by rendering 10% more pixels on its micro-OLED displays compared to the previous generation.

“With the breakthrough performance of M5, the latest Apple Vision Pro delivers faster performance, sharper details throughout the system, and even more battery life, setting a new standard for what’s possible in spatial computing,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “Paired with the comfortable Dual Knit Band, innovative features in visionOS 26, and all-new Apple Immersive experiences spanning adventure, documentary, music, and sports, spatial computing is even more capable, entertaining, and magical with the new Vision Pro.
As Borchers mentions, the new Vision Pro features an upgraded battery life of 3 hours of use. A new Dual Knit Band aims to combat one of the Vision Pro’s main drawbacks: its hefty weight that some users found uncomfortable during extended use. Owners of the previous generation Vision Pro can purchase the new band separately, as it is compatible with both models.
The next-gen Vision Pro launches October 22 with 256GB of storage space for $3,500.
