Asus debuts world’s fastest OLED monitor

Asus' new offering can run at 2K/540Hz or 720p/720Hz

Asus has announced two new 27-inch tandem WOLED gaming monitors, the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W and ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG. Asus claims that the tandem panel design delivers enhanced brightness, bolstered color gamut coverage, and more endurance than traditional OLEDs, as well as greater power efficiency.

The ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W can run at 2K resolution with a 540Hz refresh rate, or at 720 HD at an unheard of 720Hz, making it the world’s fastest OLED monitor. This refresh rate is overkill for most applications, which is why the new monitors are targeted squarely at the most hardcore of gamers and esports enthusiasts.

The monitor features a TrueBlack Glossy coating to minimize screen glare, and connectivity options include HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20 with 80Gbps bandwidth. The new monitor also includes a Neo Proximity Sensor which blacks out the screen when it senses the user has stepped away, saving power and fighting against burn-in.

Asus has made some unique design choices with the new monitors, as the  ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W’s rear panel is translucent and silver, providing a view to the monitor’s components and harkening back to the translucent craze of the 90’s and early 2000’s. No pricing or availability information has yet been revealed, but the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W is expected to launch soon.
