Sonos has just launched its first new products in over a year in the Sonos Era 100 SL and Sonos Play. While the Era 100 SL is a more affordable, stripped down version of the Era 100, the Sonos Play takes things in a new direction entirely.
While some images and details of the Play were leaked at the beginning of this month, Sonos has now revealed its portable speaker in its entirety. Positioned between the Sonos Move 2 and Sonos Roam 2 with a price of $299, the Play supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, with the company claiming a 24-hour battery life. An integrated power bank allows users to charge devices directly from the Sonos Play, while an IP67 rating safeguards the speaker against dust and splashes.
The Sonos Play comes with a wireless charging base and is currently available for pre-order, with shipping slated to beginning March 31.
The following was originally published March 4, 2026:
It appears a new Sonos Play portable Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 speaker has leaked before being revealed by the company.
Originally spotted by The Verge, the rumored product resembles a more portable version of the Sonos Move 2. A listing for the Sonos Play was erroneously published on Best Buy Canada’s website, revealing details including a price of $399.99 CAD, IP67 rating, AUX input, wireless charging base, and 24-hour battery life.

The product page had a launch date of March 31 for the upcoming speaker, though we’ll have to see if that was just a placeholder once the speaker is officially announced by the company, presumably in the near future.
