Disneyland has submitted its preparatory plans to the city of Anaheim to carry out a large expansion of its Disney California Adventure area, according to The Orange County Register. The expansion is separate from the larger DisneylandForward project and focuses on vastly growing the size of Avengers Campus, an area of the park themed after the popular Marvel superheroes.

The expansion is expected to see the Avengers Campus area double in size with the addition of two new attraction. Avengers: Infinity Defense will see guests transported to several locations in the Marvel Multiverse, including New York City, Asgard, and Wakanda, as the Avengers battle Thanos. Stark Flight Lab will allow guests to “test” various new pieces of Iron Man’s tech in what Disney says will be a “dynamic and interactive course.” Robert Downey Jr. is confirmed to reprise his role as Iron Man for both attractions.

Construction for the Avengers Campus expansion is slated to begin next year, with the new attractions expected to open in 2026. Happening concurrently is the $1.9 billion DisneylandForward project, which passed its final voting stage just earlier this year.
