Owners of ESR Halolock power banks are urged to stop using them immediately and inspect the model number of their devices, as the company has issued a recall of the product. The company says 33,000 units are affected, specifically 6,000mAh and 10,000mAh versions with model numbers 2G520, 2G505B and 2G512B, which were sold through Amazon, Home Depot, and ESR’s online store from September 2023 through July 2025.
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), ESR has thus far received nine reports of the devices overheating and catching fire, causing $20,000 in property damage. No injuries have been reported. CPSC clarifies that affected models were sold in dark blue, light blue, gray, white, and black versions.
Owners of affected devices are instructed to dispose of them following local guidelines:
“Do not throw this recalled lithium-ion battery or device in the trash, the general recycling stream (e.g., street-level or curbside recycling bins), or used battery recycling boxes found at various retail and home improvement stores,” states CPSC. “Recalled lithium-ion batteries must be disposed of differently than other batteries, because they present a greater risk of fire. Your municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center may accept this recalled lithium-ion battery or device for disposal. Before taking your battery or device to a HHW collection center, contact that office ahead of time and ask whether it accepts recalled lithium-ion batteries. If it does not, contact your municipality for further guidance.”
Those will recalled devices may contact ESR for a full refund by emailing their support team with a photo of the recalled power bank showing the model number with the word “Recalled” written on it in permanent marker. If possible, owners are asked to include their order number, but this step is not required.
