Coming just days after Samsung’s launch announcement of its 115-inch Mini RGB TV, Hisense has thrown its hat into the ring by launching the 116-inch Hisense 116UX. While Hisense calls its technology RGB-MiniLED, the $30,000 TV uses the same panel type as Samsung’s new model, which features individually controlled red, green, and blue LEDs to produce elevated color accuracy and contrast.
According to Hisense, the 116UX features “thousands” of dimming zones, and achieves a color coverage of up to 95% BT.2020, with a peak brightness of 8,ooo nits. The company’s new Hi-View AI Engine X controls the backlight layer, optimizing for both picture and sound in real time.
Audio for the Hisense 116UX was created in collaboration with the Opéra de Paris. The 6.2.2 CineStage X Surround system was designed to be an ode to ‘Parisian opera-house acoustics,’ according to the company.
Launching alongside the 116UX is a 100-inch model of the TV for $20,000. While Hisense and Samsung are the first to debut their large-format TVs with the new panel type, Sony and TCL are expected to launch products featuring individually-controlled RGB LEDs sometime next year.
