Camera company Insta360 is diving into the wireless audio market with the Mic Air, a small wireless microphone about the size of an AirTag. Insta360 says that the Mic Air is designed “for simplicity and portability,” and can be worn via the included magnetic clip, mounted, or hung from a pendant strap.
The Mic Air can be purchased on its own for $49.99, or be bundled with a USB-C wireless receiver to be connected to smartphones or the company’s gimbals. On its own, the microphone supports Bluetooth connectivity to other Insta360 products, and has an advertised battery life of 10 hours per charge. Unobstructed, the mic has a range of up to 300 meters with the receiver, while Bluetooth supports a range of 30-50 meters to Insta360 cameras.
The Mic Air supports 48kHz/24-bit audio with built-in noise reduction, and comes with a removable windshield as well as a remote to control start/stop recording, mute/unmute, and to toggle noise reduction.
Insta360 Mic Air is priced at US$49, with the 1 TX + 1 RX Bundle available for US$69. The Insta360 X5 Ultimate Creator Bundle retails for US$669.
