KEF enters the soundbar market

KEF's first soundbar features proprietary low-end technology and spatial audio support

KEF has entered the soundbar market with the launch of its first model, the KEF XIO. Powered by a 5.1.2 configuration (five main channels, one subwoofer channel, and two overhead channels) and with 12 class D amplifiers, the XIO offers spatial audio, a dedicated Dialogue Mode for TV and film, as well as Night and Music Modes.

KEF claims that the XIO’s P185 LF driver, which features KEF’s P-Flex technology created for its KC62 and KC92 subwoofers, resists acoustic pressure within the cabinet, enabling the driver to move with greater precision.  The XIO also features six Uni-Q MX drivers, the miniature version of KEF’s Uni-Q driver array. The company has adapted its W2 Wireless Platform from its LS Wireless Collection to the XIO, enabling wireless transmission of all major streaming services.

On the spatial audio front, the XIO supports Dolby Atmos and Sony 360 Reality Audio. For connectivity, options include HDMI eARC, optical, and an RCA subwoofer output. Additionally, any KEF subwoofer can be paired wirelessly via a KW2 RX receiver. Audio tuning and playback can be controlled via the soundbar’s top panel, the remote, or through the KEF Connect app.

The XIO Soundbar is available now for $2499.99.
