Apple has been able to enjoy a couple of months with its latest iPad Pro models standing out on the market by featuring a tandem-OLED display. These displays feature a unique two-stack OLED panel design for increased performance and brightness. LG has just shaken things up, however, by announcing that it has begun mass production of the same tandem-OLED design display for use in new laptops.
“Now applied to laptops for the first time, LG Display’s new Tandem OLED panel has been tailored for laptop use,” says LG Display. “It can deliver double the lifespan and triple the brightness of a conventional single-layer OLED display, while reducing power consumption by up to 40%, making it ideal for high-performance IT devices like AI laptops as well as regular laptops.”
So far, the 13″ touchscreen display has been confirmed for use in Dell’s upcoming XPS13 laptop, but is expected to be hitting devices from other brands soon. The display features a 2880×1800 resolution, with LG claiming that it is both thinner and lighter than conventional OLED displays.
