LG Display unveils its 3rd gen Tandem OLED panels

The company showcased its next-gen panels at SID Display Week 2026

This year’s SID Display Week has seen LG Display showcase its next-gen Tandem OLED panels, the company announced. LG recently announced that it is dividing its OLED display panels into two main lines: Tandem WOLED and Tandem OLED.

While both technologies are being showcased at the event, the 3rd-generation Tandem WOLED panels are unique in that LG says that they can deliver a steady 1200 nits of brightness while also being more power efficient. The company claims that each Tandem WOLED panel has a lifespan of over 15,000 hours. LG is currently the sole manufacturer of WOLED panels for consuer devices.

“Third-generation Tandem OLED features 18% lower power consumption and more than twice the lifespan of the previous generation,” said LG Display. “This advancement is enabled by a newly developed OLED element that optimizes hole and electron movement to minimize degradation while ensuring uniform picture quality, along with the application of a deep blue dopant to further improve color purity, color reproduction, brightness, low power consumption, and longevity.”
